Mehmet Nefes

TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute • Director

Mr. M. Mehmet Nefes is the Director of TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute (TÜBİTAK UZAY) and a Board Member of the Turkish Space Agency. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University and an M.Sc. in Engineering Management. With nearly 20 years of experience in the space sector, he has held key positions at TÜRKSAT and contributed to major satellite programs, including TÜRKSAT 4A/4B, 5A/5B, and Türkiye’s first indigenous communications satellite, TÜRKSAT 6A. His expertise spans satellite systems, engineering and program management, manufacturing and testing, procurement, launch services, and international cooperation.
