Kamel Besbes

After a master's degree from Ecole Centrale de Lyon (1986) and PhD from INSA Lyon (France) in Microelectronics, he defended State Doctorate in Physics in 1995 in Tunis-Manar University (Tunisia). He joined the University of Monastir (Tunisia) in 1989 where he established teaching and research activities in electronics and microelectronics.

Research efforts are focused on microelectronic devices, micro-nano systems, embedded systems and Instrumentation for detection, navigation and space programs for environment. He founded and became the head of the Microelectronics and Instrumentation Lab since 2003. He managed several national and international research programs and he was in several workshops and conferences committees. He directed until now more than 20 PhD thesis in Physics and Electrical Engineering and he had more than 250 published and presented papers. He had some scientific and administrative responsibilities. He was the Vice-Dean (2000 2005) and he was elected the Dean (2008-2011) of Sciences Faculty, University of Monastir. He was also elected Member of the Monastir University Board for 3 times (2005-2014). He's now the General Director of Centre for Research on Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (CRMN) in the Sousse Technopole since 2014.

He was member of several Tunisian national committees as: Reform of Higher Education and Scientific Research (2012-2014), Diploma Accreditation and University teacher recruitment committees (Electronic and Microelectronic), Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research (Priorities, Policies, KTT, Programs), Tunisia/EU-H2020 Experts committee and NCP for space programs (since 2016), Cybersecurity and artificial intelligence committee, National Committee for Space
