Prof. Wei Zhang obtained his Ph.D. in Flight Vehicle Design from the Beijing Institute of Technology(BIT) in 2003. In 2003, Dr. Zhang joined the Information and Electronics School of the Beijing Institute of Technology. During worked in BIT, he had been doing research on radar system and signal processing. In 2011, as visiting scholar Dr. Zhang worked for EECE school of Birmingham University, UK. During the period he mainly focused on the research project of GPS/Radar/INS information fusion for the next generation SUV.
In 2012, Dr. Zhang joined CSU and started to study on the strategy planning and mission design for the China Space Station. He organized hundreds of top scientists to formulate the scientific mission planning for China Space Station, which covers four major areas—space life sciences, microgravity physical sciences, space astronomy and Earth sciences, and space technology—along with 32 research themes, 65 research plans. He also led the solicitation, evaluation and selection of multiple batches of research projects for the China Space Station. Also, he is responsible for the achievements management for China Space Station, and has strong interests in transferring the scientific and technological achievement to industry.
