Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission • Chairman

Mr. Muhammad Yousaf Khan is the Chairman of the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), Pakistan, the country's national space agency. He assumed the chairmanship in October 2023, becoming the first civilian scientist to lead SUPARCO in more than two decades. Under his leadership, SUPARCO has continued to advance Pakistan's capabilities in satellite technology, Earth observation, remote sensing, space science and international space cooperation.

As Chairman, Khan has overseen and represented Pakistan in major national space initiatives, including the country's EO-1 electro-optical satellite, launched in January 2025, and the HS-1 hyperspectral satellite, supporting applications including precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, urban planning and disaster management. He has also emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the peaceful uses of space technology for sustainable national development.

He has represented SUPARCO in high-level international engagements, including Pakistan-China space cooperation and discussions concerning Pakistan's future human-spaceflight and lunar exploration ambitions.
