Professor Marta Yebra is Director of the Bushfire Research Centre of Excellence at the Australian National University (ANU), where she leads research at the intersection of Earth observation, environmental engineering, and wildfire science. Her work focuses on developing satellite-based methods to monitor vegetation flammability and fire risk, including real-time fuel moisture mapping, AI-driven fire detection, and the design of new Earth observation missions such as OzFuel. She works closely with government agencies, emergency services, utilities, and industry partners, and has contributed to global initiatives such as the XPRIZE Wildfire competition.
