Mark Thompson AM is the CEO of Capricorn Space, established in 2018 to provide Southern Hemisphere ground segment services — including airtime and hosting - to NewSpace and legacy satellite operators. The company operates a facility in Mingenew, Western Australia, with a second site in eastern Australia due in 2026.

With over 40 years’ experience in the space industry, Mark started his career with AUSSAT and has contributed to major commercial and Defence satellite programs, including Inmarsat’s third-generation satellites, Australia’s National Broadband Network space segment, and multiple Defence satellites.

Mark holds a Master of Engineering and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for contributions to satellite communications. Mark is committed to growing the Australian space economy and ensuring space remains accessible for future generations.
