Travis Brown

NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) • Chief Engineer and Team Lead, Ingenuity Mars Helicopter Project

Travis Brown is a Robotics Systems Engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He is the Chief Engineer and Team Lead of the Ingenuity Mars Helicopter Project and a member of JPL’s ‘Chopper’ Team, working to develop designs for the next generation of Martian aircraft. He has been actively involved in aerospace and robotics development for the past 15 years, with work that includes rovers, rappelling robots, rotorcraft, fixed wing UAVs, and legged robots. At JPL, he has worked at nearly every stage of the mission lifecycle including basic research, technology R&D, mission concept formulation, flight system development, qualification testing, and mission operations.

He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Notre Dame, and a B.S in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University.
