Stefano Mungiguerra is Associate Professor in Aerospace Propulsion at the Scuola Superiore Meridionale (SSM), in Naples, Italy. He holds a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering and a PhD Degree in Industrial Engineering, both awarded by University of Naples Federico II. From 2022 to 2026, he has been Researcher in Aerospace Propulsion and lecturer for the Space Propulsion course in the framework of the Master Course in Aerospace Engineering at University Federico II. He has also been teacher of several PhD courses on topics of propulsion and hypersonics. His research topics deal with: hybrid, liquid and monopropellant rocket engines; hypersonic aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics; super/hypersonic air intakes; ceramic materials for aerospace thermal protection; deployable re-entry capsules; rarefied aerodynamics of nanosatellites and air intakes for Air-Breathing Electric Propulsion. In July 2026, he has 80+ recorded documents on Scopus (journal articles and conference proceedings), with 1100+ citations and h-index 19. He is member of the editorial board for two Scopus-indexed journals. He is currently member of the Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIDAA) and of the Space Propulsion Technical Committee of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF). He has been part of the AIDAA Local Technical Committee for the AIAA Hypersonics 2026 Conference, held in Naples, Italy, in 2026. He has been visiting researcher in DLR (German Aerospace Center) in Cologne, Germany and in CNRS-PROMES (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique – Laboratoire PROcédés, Materiaux et Energie Solaire), in Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via, France.
