Mohammed Almulla

Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) • Astronaut

Mohammad AlMulla is an Emirati astronaut, selected as part of the second batch of the UAE Astronaut Programme. In 2024, he graduated from the NASA Astronaut Candidate Class training programme, earning his astronaut pin and becoming a fully qualified astronaut for future space missions.

Chosen from over 4,000 applicants, AlMulla was one of two astronauts selected in the second batch of the programme, launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

AlMulla's training began at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), where he undertook swimming, scuba diving, survival exercises, and stamina improvement. He then joined NASA's 2021 Astronaut Candidate Class at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, training in spacewalking at the Neutral Buoyancy Lab, robotics, ISS systems, piloting the T-38 jet, and Russian language lessons. He also participated in advanced training exercises, including survival training at Alabama's Fort Novosel and geological lessons.

AlMulla obtained a commercial pilot’s license from the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) at age 19, becoming the youngest pilot in Dubai Police. He later became the youngest trainer in the same organisation. AlMulla holds a bachelor's degree in law and economics and an Executive Master of Public Administration from the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government.
