Michael Nicolls is the Senior Vice President of Starlink Engineering and President of SpaceXAI at SpaceX. He leads the team developing and operating the Starlink broadband and Mobile systems via advanced satellites, user terminals, and ground technologies, connecting millions of ustomers globally with over 10,000 satellites launched to low-Earth orbit. As President of SpaceXAI, Michael oversees the operations designed to scale and power SpaceX’s artificial intelligence products, including overall infrastructure, compute, and technologies.

Prior to joining SpaceX in 2020, Michael was the chief technical officer and co-founder of LeoLabs, where he led the development of the radar and tracking systems and data platforms for providing space safety services. He also worked at SRI International’sCenter for Geospace Studies overseeing the development of remote sensing technologies for studies of the Earth’s upper atmosphere and ionosphere.
