Yuji Saito

Dr. Yuji Saito is an Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Tohoku University, Japan. He received his B.Eng., M.Eng., and Ph.D. in Engineering from Hokkaido University. Since 2026, he has also served as Director of the Advanced Space Propulsion Technology Research Division at the Research Center for Space Cross-Tech, Green Goals Initiative. His research focuses on space propulsion, particularly hybrid rocket and hybrid thruster technologies, rocket internal ballistics, combustion diagnostics, and advanced propulsion system design. He leads the Space Propulsion Laboratory at Tohoku University, where his group combines fundamental research with practical engineering to develop safe, high-performance propulsion technologies for future space missions. Dr. Saito received the MEXT Young Scientists' Award in 2025 and serves as Co-Chair of the Hybrid Rocket Technologies and Related Technologies session at the International Astronautical Congress. He is a member of the IAF Space Propulsion Committee.
