Jennifer Kingston

Cranfield University • Senior Lecturer in Space Systems

Dr Kingston is a Senior Lecturer in Space Systems at Cranfield University. She joined the academic staff of Cranfield University in 2003, first as a Research Fellow and from 2005 as a lecturer, and has also served as Course Director of the Astronautics and Space Engineering MSc course. Jennifer played key roles in satellite integration, testing and flight operations of TEAMSAT with ESA prior to joining Cranfield, the development of Cranfield’s deorbit dragsail payload which successfully deorbited TechDemoSat-1 and the ESEO student microsatellite mission. She has also provides technical consultancy for the space insurance industry since 2006. Her research interests and PhD supervision includes space debris mitigation space debris modelling and mitigation scenarios, research into innovative space architectures, on-orbit manufacture and assembly and in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) As part of the European Innovation Council funded DEXTER project, Jennifer leads Cranfield’s team responsible for classifying orbital debris and identifying opportunities for spacecraft recycling.
