CGIAR Hub for Sustainable Finance, ImpactSF • Climate and Sustainable Finance Specialist

Paul Njoroge is a climate and sustainable finance specialist with over a decade of experience working across banking, agriculture, FinTech and development/impact finance. He currently leads business development for the CGIAR Hub for Sustainable Finance, ImpactSF, where he supports the strategy and positioning of climate risk data and sustainable finance tools for financial institutions, governments, and enterprises. In this role, he focuses on helping banks and investors translate climate risk analytics into practical lending, product design, and investment decisions.

Seconded as a GIZ-CIM Integrated Expert, Paul brings a strong blend of business development, partnership building, and financial sector advisory experience. His work has centered on scaling climate-smart finance, de-risking instruments, climate risk pricing, bundled financing products, and climate risk-informed lending models across African markets. He previously served as Africa Director at Financial Access, where he worked with microfinance institutions, agribusinesses, development partners, and investors to expand access to finance for agricultural value chains and smallholder farmers.

Paul’s professional focus is on advancing meaningful investment into food systems, agricultural value chains, and forestry commodities, with a particular emphasis on financial inclusion, risk management, and scalable impact. His experience includes supporting climate-smart lending tools, green credit products, carbon-linked investment mechanisms, and climate risk analytics for financial institutions.

Paul holds an MSc in Financial Economics, a BSc in International Economics and Business Economics and a BSc in International Business Administration from Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
