Alex Held

CSIRO Space and AstronomyChief Research Scientist, Earth Observation and AquaWatch

Dr. Held is the Chief Scientist of Earth Observation and AquaWatch at CSIRO, Australia's National Science Agency, and serves as the CSIRO Principal on the international Committee on Earth Observation Satellites. Previously, Alex led the AquaWatch Australia Mission at CSIRO, which aims to develop and deploy national-scale water quality monitoring infrastructure. He has also served as a co-lead of the "Landscapes Assessment" facility of Australia’s “Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network” – TERN, which provides free and open access to various satellite-derived products for ecosystem science and land management. He represents Australia at several space-related international committees and previously served as member of the National Committee for Space Science of the Australian Academy of Science.
