Uma Cladellas Sanjuan

Serco • Astrophysicist, Space Technical Writer

Uma works as a Space Technical Writer at Serco, supporting the European Space Agency (ESA) with technical documentation, proposals, and project reporting in compliance with ECSS standards. She holds double Master’s degrees in Space Science & Technology and in Astrophysics and Planetology, and is an alumna of the International Space University’s Space Studies Programme. She conducted research at ESA on the Gaia mission, contributed to YPSat-2, collaborated on NASA’s Perseverance rover (SuperCam instrument), and interned with ESA’s ExoMars mission, combining scientific research with project coordination and subsystem management. She also founded Team ALMA, leading it from concept to a stratospheric balloon launch under ESA’s REXUS/BEXUS programme. Beyond her technical career, Uma is Mentoring Director for Women4Space Europe, after previously leading the Women In Aerospace-Barcelona mentoring programme, and she supports the coordination of the International Astronautical Congress Next Generation Panel. Passionate about creating a more inclusive space sector, she continues to inspire and empower the next generation of space professionals.
