Brian MONNIN

Sophia Space • Chief Commercial Officer

Brian Monnin is a veteran product and growth leader whose career has consistently anticipated and shaped major waves in digital technology, from early internet content to today’s space-based computing infrastructure. As co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Sophia Space, he now helps civil, defense, and commercial customers move AI workloads into orbit, driving product strategy and go-to-market for modular orbital compute “TILE” systems that promise more sustainable, efficient processing of massive data streams beyond Earth. His role builds on more than two decades of creating platforms that simplify complex workflows and move large media and data files where professionals need them most.

Monnin’s product leadership emerged in the 1990s at Microsoft and MSNBC.com, where he helped define interactive media, broadband, and multimedia features for Office, Internet Explorer, and early streaming news—delivering new tools that made rich content and large files usable for everyday knowledge workers and online audiences. In the 2000s he co-founded MetaStories, a rich media content management company acquired by Brightcove, then led Brightcove’s publishing products, giving major media brands cloud-based software to manage, combine, and distribute video, photos, audio, and interactive experiences across the growing broadband internet. As mobile and app ecosystems took off in the 2010s, he founded Daily Interactive Networks to publish award winning mobile media apps for brands like National Geographic, and NBC News, before co-founding Play Impossible to merge IoT, STEM, and cloud services into connected play experiences—again centering on intuitive tools and reliable delivery of rich digital content. Play Impossible was sold in Apple Stores worldwide between 2016-2018.

Across the 2010s and 2020s, Monnin extended this track record into over the top video and AI-powered industrial workflows, then into file transfer and digital commerce for creative professionals. He led interactive media product management at Intel for its OTT services, guided a modern SaaS video platform at Comcast Technology Solutions that simplified direct to consumer streaming for major media clients, founded QUIVR AI to streamline fault detection on factory floors with computer vision, and later served as VP Growth and GM Emerging Products at WeTransfer, where he launched new product suites that layered payments, merchandising, and advanced review tools onto an established large file sharing platform for creators. Today at Sophia Space, he applies this same product mindset—simplifying complex workflows and moving large, mission critical data more efficiently—at the frontier of orbital compute, helping creative, commercial, and government customers operate at the next critical leap in infrastructure.
