Burak YAĞLIOĞLU

Burak Yağlıoğlu is a Senior Chief Researcher at TUBITAK UZAY (Turkish Space Technologies Research Institute) and serves as the Project Manager of the First Turkish Lunar Mission (TLM-1), leading the design, development, and operations of the first Turkish deep-space spacecraft to explore the Moon while demonstrating indigenous space technologies. With more than fifteen years of experience in space mission design, systems engineering, orbital dynamics and project management, he has been involved in six satellite projects including the first indigenous Earth observation satellites RASAT and GÖKTÜRK-2 and held key technical leadership roles in the development of Türkiye’s first indigenous geostationary communications satellite TÜRKSAT-6A, the high-resolution Earth observation satellite İMECE, as well as managing an international 3U CubeSat project. In addition to space system development projects, he also led the development of a multi frequency multi constellation GNSS receiver and established collision-avoidance operations at the institute. Holding a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU) with a dissertation on long-term safe cluster flight for distributed space systems, and a joint European Master’s degree in Space Science and Technology (SpaceMaster) earned in Germany, Sweden, and Japan, Dr. Yağlıoğlu also lectures part-time at universities on Space System Design and Orbital Mechanics.
