Begum Aydogan Mathyk

Begum Aydogan Mathyk is a physician-scientist and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Türkiye, currently completing a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of South Florida, USA. She serves as Chair of the NASA OSDR Female Reproduction Analysis Working Group and Chair of the IIAS Women's Health. She proposed a women's health research study for an all women IIAS02/Virgin Galactic mission planned for 2026, focused on investigating female reproductive health during commercial suborbital spaceflight. She performed the world's first gynecological ultrasound in weightlessness, which was published in a special edition of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the official journal of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. During this session, she will discuss gynecological ultrasonography and the risks and management of gynecologic emergencies during spaceflight.
