Carmen Possnig

European Space Agency (ESA)Astronaut Reserve

Carmen Possnig, born in Austria in 1988, is a member of the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, selected for the astronaut reserve. She graduated from the Medical University of Graz in 2014 with a thesis focused on artificial gravity and orthostatic tolerance in collaboration with the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

Carmen's experience includes working as a general practitioner resident in Vienna and spending 13 months as a research medical doctor at Concordia Station in Antarctica, conducting ESA biomedical and psychosocial research. She also worked at the Space Clinic at MEDES in Toulouse, and since 2020, she has been pursuing a PhD at the University of Innsbruck, researching space physiology.
