• Dr Mehul R Pandya is a Senior Scientist and Group Director of Space & Environment Sciences Group (SESG) at Space Applications Centre (SAC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Education: • Dr. Mehul R Pandya did his BSc and MSc in Physics from the Gujarat University and was University topper in both the degrees. • He did Post Graduate Diploma Course in Atmospheric Sciences from the Joseph Fourier University, France and did his PhD in Physics. Career & Contribution: • He has contributed in various R&D activities related to satellite remote sensing of Atmosphere, Biosphere, Climate Science and Astronomy for about 28 years at ISRO. • He is Science Theme Lead of ISRO for Indo-French satellite mission- TRISHNA. • He is leading the science activities of SAC-ISRO’s future G20 satellite mission. • He was one of the main team members of Indian Mars Mission Science Team. • He is a team member of ISRO’s future Mars Landing Mission (MLM). • His research interests include (1) Optical polarimetry remote sensing for aerosols on Earth and Mars; (2) Greenhouse gas detection with hyperfine spectral observations and theoretical modelling and (3) Terahertz astronomy for star formation studies. Awards and Recognition: • Dr. Mehul Pandya was a Visiting Scientist at NASA (Goddard Space Flight Center) USA. • He has been a Lead Author in the prestigious forum- IPCC (Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change). • He is a recipient of ISRO Young Scientist Merit Award. • He has also won the ISRS P.R. Pisharoty National Award. • He has recently received Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity as a member of IPCC. • He has around 120 publications to his credit.
