Dr Jamila Mansouri is the Head of the Propulsion, Aerothermodynamics and Flight Vehicles Engineering Division at the European Space Agency (ESA). With more than 25 years of experience in the European space sector, she has held leading technical and managerial positions across launch systems, propulsion engineering, and future space transportation programmes. After spending a decade in industry with SNECMA (now Safran) and Arianespace, she joined ESA in 2009, where she served as Ariane 5 ME Propulsion Systems Manager, Ariane 6 Launch System Lead Engineer, and Space Transportation Manager before assuming her current role in 2021. In her current position, Dr Mansouri oversees ESA’s activities in chemical, electric and advanced propulsion technologies, as well as aerothermodynamics and flight vehicle engineering. She plays a key role in the development of next-generation propulsion systems and future exploration capabilities, including innovative and nuclear propulsion concepts for deep-space missions.
