Dr. Tirtha Pratim Das is the Director of the Science Programme Office, ISRO Headquarters, which is the key office responsible for the programmatic orchestration of all the scientific activities, including the space science missions of ISRO/Department of Space, Government of India.

Spanning a career of more than two decades, Dr. Das has served the Indian space programme in various capacities, which include Launch Vehicle technology, High Frequency Phased Array Radar, Sounding Rocket experiments, scientific payload development for planetary exploration, formulation of space borne experiments for planetary missions, project management, to name a few. Dr. Das has contributed to all the space science missions of ISRO/India since Chandrayaan-1, in various scientific, technical and programmatic leadership roles. His major contribution as a scientist has been investigation of the Lunar and Martian neutral exospheric composition. Apart from playing various roles in scientific and technical capacities, he has also played programmatic roles towards the formulation of a set of disruptive technologies for the Indian Space Programme. He also plays significant roles in the International Cooperation in space science exploration, as member of several committees that interface with the global space agencies.

Currently, as the director of the space science programme of ISRO, Dr. Das is engaged in the formulation of the space science programme, scientific community building, developing academic courses on space science and technology, as well as interfacing with academia / institutes of the country.
